Paris is the capital of France and the countrys biggest city. It is located on the river Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Ile-de-France region also known as the Paris Region. Aix-les-Bains, town(1990 pop. 24,826), Savoie dept., SE France, located on Lake Bourget at the foot of the Alps. It is a famous resort and spa. The town's alum and sulfur springs have been same since Roman times. There are ruins of Roman baths. The town lies at an altitude of about 250m and stretches along the eastern end of the attractive Lac du Bourget and up the slopes above the lake that crown in the Tour de L'Angle Est that overlooks the city and lake at a height of 1562m. The western shore of the lake is close as the mountains along its border are closer to the lakeshore, although short than those on the eastern side. The lake drains out of its northern end into the Rhone river about 5km to the north. Aix Les Bains is located in the hilly country of the Bugey that makes up the foothills of the Alps and also forms part of the lower western extension of the Jura Mountains.

Marseille famous as Massalia, is the second-biggest city of France. Marseille(Massalia) the third-biggest metropolitan area, next Paris and Lyon, with a population indicated to be 1,516,340 at the 1999 census and approximately to be 1,605,000 in 2007. Placed on the south east coast of France on the Mediterranean, Marseille is France's biggest commercial port. Marseille is the administrative capital of the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region, as well as the administrative capital of the Bouches-du-Rhone department. Its inhabitants are called Marseillais. Metz city of northeast France on the Moselle River north of Nancy. Established before Roman times, it succeed as a free imperial city after the 12th century and was annexed by France in 1552. The city was ruled by Germany from 1871 to 1918.
